A new award winning, documentary film, entitled FEMME: Women Healing the World, directed by Emmanuel Itier and executive produced by Sharon Stone, has recently opened in Los Angeles and New York City and is also being streamed globally.
FEMME has sparked home viewing parties all over the world, sacred circles and workshops where people, get together to stream the film and then following the film, offer ideas on activating FEMMEs call to action. FEMME features over 100 women, all over the world including myself, who share views on how the aspects of nurturing, nourishing and healing are becoming the primal force to bring into balance the yin/yang principle that has been missing in a world dominated predominantly by the patriarchy for over 5000 years.
My personal path in life has led me in many directions as a maverick feminist, including acting, owning and operating a commercial real estate brokerage, writing and lecturing in the field of holistic health care for both people and pets, all for the most part as a single Mom and finally, happily marrying the love of my life, my wonderful husband, Nazim Artist. But truly the most important thing I have ever done was to choose to become a mother and later have the honor of being a grandmother.
In FEMME, I got to share my feelings about how mothering is one of the most important things we humans can do. I’d also like to add that I don’t think mothering is the exclusive terrain of women only. And by that I mean it takes more than a female body to embody the aspects of true mothering which includes, nurturing. Here is my interview on YouTube for FEMME with Emmanuel Itier.
As an author, holistic activist, FEMME producer and most recently, Ambassador to the Global Prenatal Initiative (GPI), I have learned much about a new science called epigenetics. I discovered through epigenetics that it is not the genes we possess, but rather how our genes are expressed that really matters. Our experiences alter the expression of genes, without necessarily changing our DNA; i.e. a Mother’s every thought and action, programmes her own baby’s genes in utero and everything she does and experiences as well as the people and world immediately around her, is actually being downloaded into her unborn child’s fetal tissue and cellular memory. For nine months, a mother and child exist in absolute unity and the mothers role, and ours as well, is crucial during this period. Why do I include us in that equation? It’s because this cause and effect principle has been referred to as a type of chaos theory known as, The Butterfly Effect. The quote goes like this: “It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.” It got me thinking that not only would it be wonderful to share this idea with mothers and fathers to be, but also with everyone else all over the world so that we might through FEMME raise the idea that we just might all be able to become the conscious, epigenetic engineers of our future and thereby take part in the global healing of our world.
FEMME is honored to have over 100 global female leaders in this film, who empower us with their ideas about a partnership at long last being formed between men and women all over the world.
My husband Nazim Artist and I as producers, working with Emmanuel Itier on FEMME, included many of Nazim’s paintings which add gravitas to some of the interviews in our film, almost as if they are real characters, such as the Butterfly Nebula. To us, this painting symbolizes the co-creation of a new humanity and paradigm shift to a loving, balanced partnership between men and women.
We invite you all to help us spread the word about FEMME Women Healing the World. You might even want to have your own gathering of friends to your home or meeting rooms to have question & answer sessions after you watch the film, in order to see what you and your friends or colleagues can do to do help create the world you want to live in, now and in the future. In order for this to happen it takes some sort of action plan. We can all act in some way for the changes we wish to have take place. The journey simply begins with a single step.
